Day 4

 Misty Fjord

First activity of the day was a Whale and sea creature presentation with guessing games  


From the bow we headed to the stern to learn about cloud identification. 




I found one!



After all the brain work we needed to relax in the Jacuzzi at a soothing 40 degrees.


After lunch the cruise into Misty Fjord

Here we see the ship with her anchor chain pointing straight down. Technically we are at anchor with two shackles of chain out (75 m) in 50 m of water. Actually the shop is holding itself in a defined spot by dynamic positioning where the engines, azipods and thrusters work in unison. Having the anchor down means that the Pilot can leave the bridge. 

16 Zodiacs were launched, 15 operational and one for rescue, and passengers were loaded in groups of 10 for an hours cruising around the Fjord. 

The ship provided us with the top coat jacket, life jacket and muck boots (gum boots).

We provided base and mid layer thermal's, hats and gloves.

  Tracy Arm and the Sawyer glacier  Morning views from our balcony At breakfast  Gazing on the glacier  Tender pit activity  Our group is the first zodiac away today  In the front seat again.  Seal sun baking on an iceberg. Yes there is a mountain goat on the cliff.  Theresa, our boat captain, retrieved a piece of ice. We took our share to the explorers bar where the friendly bar tender added it to our drinks.  Next event was a tour of the bridge.  I wanna chart plotter like this.  In the captains chair with the captain.  Here is a quick tour of our cabin.  This afternoon’s lecture was on how whales make and hear sounds.  View from the restaurant at dinner.  As part of the ships green credentials all menus are published on the app where everything on the boat is booked and notified   During dinner we saw a number of whales blowing  Then watched a pod of 3 orcas playing off the bow

Day 2

Vancouver to the Ship.  The day started with an early morning city walk around our hotel.  But all the good shops were closed. Late opening and closings are the norm here.  The tour official began with a half day city coach tour. Streets run North South and Avenues run East West Obviously there are some exceptions to confuse.  As seating the movies traffic lights do hang from wires and swing in the breeze.  While the display was wrong the timer inside knew it was 10:15 The drive through China Town produced no photos. Stanley park is renown for its Totem poles. These are around 40 years old and in poor condition.  The trading is not to repair but replace.  Where we have bin chickens Vancouver has Canadian Geese. Our final stop was at Grenville Island to see the House Boats.  Really floating houses.  The island has a large market area selling lots of good stuff and so one interesting recipes.  We enjoyed fruit salad for lunch.  Next stop was Canadian customs followed by US customs then t
